Tuesday October 16, 2007 by A minor earthquake shook areas of York County, Maine and New Hampshire late today. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake occurred just before 8 p.m. and measured nearly 2.0 on the Richter scale, not intense enough to cause much damage. It was the second minor earthquake this week in Maine. The other happened around 9 p.m. Sunday in the Hancock County town of Sullivan.

A JetBlue flight carrying 140 passengers from Rochester to New York's JFK airport made an emergency landing. Flight 43 was allowed to land before other scheduled flights, due to the electrical fire smell caused by the lightning strike. There was no smoke or fire and passengers arrived 20 minutes early.
